President Museveni made the remarks at a Christmas celebration ceremony at Daystar Pentecostal church in Mbarara on Christmas day.
Museveni said he, "will first go  through the bill and if it is right, he will sign it into law but if he finds it not right, he will send it back to parliament".
Parliament last week on Thursday passed the anti-homosexuality bill which criminalises homosexual acts with a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
The bill has been welcomed by religious clerics across the country with many leaders saying the bill is a welcome move to restore morality in the country.
The president, according to the constitution has 30 days within which to assent or send the bill back to parliament.
Museveni has on earlier occasions been quoted saying homosexuality has not been criminalised or marginalised in earlier African societies, he said sexuality is a private issue that should not be debated publicly.
The US government in a statement issued yesterday also said they are deeply concerned at the passing of the bill.
