{UAH} Plumstead Mosque, London

I just been to this mosque in south London this afternoon. I went there to meet up with a Somali friend of mine who wanted me to accompany her to the nearby maximum security prison called Belmarsh just a few mile away. This is the prison in the UK where all terrorist suspects and the most dangerous prisoners are kept. She has a relative detained there waiting trial. But it is the mosque I am writing about. I was so surprised by the amount of security around it. At about 1 PM, I think the prayers were ending or they were having a tea break, so people were milling around in the compound and on to the streets. There were so many uniformed policemen, it looked as if they were prepared for some some sort  of public dis-order, but I was told that this is now the norm. There is a fear of right-wing extremists who have threatened to burn down the mosque, but also there is an underlying fear of the muslims themselves because of the on-going trial of the two  terrorists who murdered a soldier on a street just a short walk away from this mosque. One of the terrorists, the Nigerian convert Adebowale today refused to call evidence in his defence. He merely pleaded not guilty, claiming that he is a soldier of allah and that he followed the teachings of allah by killing his victim as humanely as possible. He claimed that as a muslim, they are taught to be humane to animals when killing them, and that is why he went for soldier Rigby's jugular so he would die as quickly as possible so that he would not suffer any more unnecessary pain. Well, I leave it to you to judge his claim to humanity.
