Very interesting war indeed - how the Tanzanians and Amin's soldiers went on executing the war without turning their guns to the population is classic in so many ways.
I personally saw Tanzania soldiers, launching these long range artillery / missiles , once behind Rubaga hill to battle tanks in the City and once again along Luwero - Gulu Road. It took a lot of preparations. What was more interesting - the TPDF must have had prior information of T-54 tanks positions and were they were stationed and could then use a grind system (GPS) to pin point a direct hit almost of the top where tanks have their artillery guns positioned. The disintegration and casualties were total.
This implies the TPDF had well trained officers in this type of long range artillery warfare and destruction of battle tanks otherwise - they would have killed a lot of civilians with these missiles.
Tanks destroyed along Kampala - Gulu Road were destroyed in this way other - but on given occasions, Amin's soldiers could put up a spirited fight using hit and run small mobile tanks to the total surprise of the TPDF. Thye were many and I can't understad how they all disappeared!
