Africa's gentle, Gentile lords
AFRICA will not prosper until its leaders in business, government, community and family adopt the right mindset about the use of power.

We use the symbols of a Gentile lord and a gentle lord to contrast the proper and improper mindsets on the use of power.
Think about it
We begin with a few of my quotations to help Africa think a little deeper about the use of power:
Africa needs gentle lords not Gentile lords.
Lordship is not loading your subjects with burdens. It is unloading their burdens. It is loading their life's field with benefits so that they, in turn, can load others.
To have dominion is not licence to domineer.
Power is given to empower the powerless and those with less power. African Gentile lords use power to disempower others.
Power is like oil. It will not harm you if you use it to oil engine parts. If you use it to oil your path expect to slip and fall one of these days. It is like cooking oil. It makes relish appetising. If you drink it raw it will poison you. — Author unknown.
Gentle versus Gentile lords
When Africa begins to think correctly about power, it's current and prospective leaders will discover that being a king or lord is not about self-interest and self-service.
Luke 22: 24-26 (KJV) gives the difference between Gentile kings or lords and the ideal kings or lords: "And there was also strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And He said unto them, the kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that serves."
Gentiles were regarded as unenlightened as they had not come to an understanding of the unique principles of living as given by God. To be a Gentile is a symbol of mediocrity caused by lack of knowledge. It is shameful mediocrity for African lords and kings to be the benefactors of power.
African Gentile lords in business, government and the community are authoring the misery of their fellow Africans by using power to benefit themselves at the expense of the powerless citizens of Africa. Africa's renaissance will remain a pipedream if the African Gentile lord remains.
The African Gentile lord must see the light and have his mindset completely overhauled. The Biblical mindset is the solution to the problem of the African Gentile lord , the manufacturer and distributor of Africa's "illionaires". The African Gentile lord can become the gentle lord who understands that being the chief means being a servant.
The Bible gives an example of a Gentle lord called Abraham. 1 Peter 3: 5-7 (KJV) describes how Sara delighted to call Abraham her lord: "For after this manner in former times the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned them, being in subjection unto their own husbands. Even as Sara obeyed, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, as long as you do well, and are not afraid with any terror. Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered"
Someone used to the horrible and cruel practices of Gentile lords, may think that Sara was a cowed wife suffering from a male-worship syndrome. Abraham's power mindset was not of the Gentile lord type. It was of the gentle lord type. Abraham was enlightened on the correct use of power.
The phrase used in the preceding Biblical text is "dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto a weaker vessel", Two things are found in a gentle lord; they have enlightened minds and they honour the weaker vessel. Their knowledge, that is, the right power mindset leads gentle lords to protect the weak. The word honour in the original Greek language is teemay which means esteem of the highest degree. So when Sara calls Abraham lord, she was responding to the highest level of esteem given her by her husband.
By being showered with the highest possible level of esteem, Sara could not compare it to anything else because it was distinct. Abraham did not break the weaker vessel. Instead he gave the weaker vessel the highest level of protection. As a result Sara had no option, but to call her powerful protector lord.
This is true Biblical lordship. This is the type of lordship Africa needs. Gentile African lords exploit the weak. Some of these Gentile African lords are in business, government, church, community and the family.
Africa needs gentle lords who will use their power protect and benefit the weak.
