Police found the dead body of a man of Somali descent with bullet wounds and an improvised explosive device inside a bullet-riddle car in Nairobi's Shauri Moyo estate shopping centre.

Witnesses told police that they saw two men on a motorbike riding off from the shopping centre after the bullet-riddled car was driven there. Police are already conducting investigations.

Meanwhile security was tightened at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following an incident in the airport's Java coffee house outlet where a blast was heard causing panic.

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo attributed the blast to "a loose light bulb" that fell into a dustbin in the coffee house. Also according to Kimaiyo the loose bulb which was hot ignited some papers in the dustbin causing a fire.
