{UAH} Razor-blade baby’s father summoned
The trial of a woman in Masaka alleged to have inserted broken razor blades into the private parts of a one-month-old girl, flopped for the fifth time running on Tuesday.
According to Ntale Kakooza, the police detective handling the case, the Chief Magistrate Mary Ikit is still on leave, until the end of month.
"We are expecting her to be back early next month [February] and hearing of the case will continue," Ntale said. But there is no scheduled date for the case to resume.
However, the court has finally summoned the victim's father, Ali Kulumba, to testify in t he matter. Stella Namuwonge is reported to have assaulted the girl, to get back at her co-wife Lydia Namaganda. At the time, Kulumba was staying with Namaganda, a matter that reportedly made Namuwonge jealous.
However, following the assault, Kulumba refused to sign the police statement implicating one of his wives. He has also not attended any of the court sessions, a matter that prompted the court to summon him.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday Namaganda confirmed that she had formally separated from Kulumba. Namaganda revealed that she had shifted from their home in Nyendo after Kulumba refused to take an HIV/Aids test.
