{UAH} South Sudan's Rebels are marching on to Juba.
Riek Machar, the leader of rebels against the government in South Sudan, told The Telegraph that there was no ceasefire and his troops were marching towards the capital, as peace talks were due to begin in Ethiopia
South Sudan's rebels are "marching on" the country's capital and no ceasefire has been agreed, the leader of the revolt told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday.
Riek Machar, the former vice-president whose rebellion began on Dec 15, promised to send a delegation to peace talks in Ethiopia, but said that he would not attend himself.
A militia loyal to Mr Machar, known as the "White Army", captured the town of Bor on Tuesday, placing the rebels only 130 miles north of the capital, Juba. The capture means the insurgents now control three of South Sudan's 10 states, including those containing the biggest oilfields.
Mr Machar, who is trying to maximise his bargaining power before any negotiations, said his next goal was to threaten the capital itself.
His troops were "still marching on Juba", he said, and "there is no cessation of hostilities yet". Salva Kiir, the president, offered a ceasefire last Friday, but Mr Machar said that no such agreement was in place.
