{UAH} BRO.OMAR:ON THE KYANKWANZI M7 CROWNING
Omar,
I don't know who the "real" Mbabazi is anymore such that I've stopped developing theories around the man. He seems to live so many lives, and he is undoubtedly an intelligent fellow. He is a mysterious man, and I think that scares Museveni a little bit.
The signatures collected in Kyankwanzi will not stop anybody in NRM with presidential ambitions to continue mobilising. Few politicians in Africa respect pieces of paper. If presidents don't respect their countries' constitutions, what makes you think that the Kyankwanzi signatures mean anything. That was just a piece of paper and I think the Observer newspaper explained its origin very well.
It's only significance is that :1-Museveni is indeed determined to hang on to power; 2-there is no que(sp) in NRM as some people earlier though; 3- Gen.Sejusa and Besigye's prior warnings to Mbabazi hold some water; 4-and that NRM is a personal property of the president. Whoever thought that they would use party structures to take Museveni out were living in Disneyland! I really feel sorry for ambitious ladies and gentlemen in NRM such as Rebecca Kadaga, Bukenya's, et al..........
This is the time for them to come out and distance themselves from what happened in Kyankwanzi. NRM has got a constitution that gives everybody a chance to contest for any post but president Museveni is trying to muzzle the whole process, and that is UN acceptable.
As for the opposition, I don't think that there is really a serious opposition in Uganda. The only thing that gives a resemblance to opposition is Besigye, and you all know it. My advice to the opposition is to not involve themselves in the coming sham elections unless serious reforms are made in the electoral process.

He knows a thing or two about the laws of power. He would rather be kingmaker than king I suppose. In the unlikely event that he really wants to replace Museveni in 2016, Mbabazi's camp has just "lost just a battle" but not the war yet. The Kyankwanzi move has sent the anti Museveni forces within the NRM underground, which will make them more sophisticated and dangerous. The NRM- anti M7 forces have been helped by an "early warning" (the Kyankwanzi debacle). Again, If Mbabazi really wants to be president, he could have planned this misstep himself to make the president look pretty ugly - an insatiably power hungry individual, who even after 30 years, still wants some more. The opposition should do well to enjoy but critically ignore these internal NRM dynamics and focus on putting their house in order and keep "the eye on the ball". For, between Mbabazi and M7 there is not a slight difference.
