The duo was in shock. The naked lady whose mouth had been gagged was Akire. She lay there lifeless.

The shocked family, however, had not heard the last of the tormentor. He kept calling family members gloating.

"At one point, he even referred to another sister of ours who is bed-ridden in hospital. He knew her name and the ward she was admitted to," said Odur.

According to Cook, as they returned from Mulago, the caller was at it again.
"He warned us that Akire is dead but he still has another target at home. He said they would get her even if it takes two years."

As the family prepares for Akire's burial, their fear still abounds. The stranger has not stopped calling.

"He even told us he will attend Akire's burial," says Cook. "He seems to see everything that is going on. It is like he is watching from the neighbourhood."

After Akire's body was picked from the mortuary yesterday, the family decided to ignore the stranger's calls. He, however, keeps calling, seeming to derive pleasure in Akire's family's pain.

When Daily Monitor contacted the deputy police spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango yesterday, he said he did not have the details on the case but promised to revert to us today.
