{UAH} Fr Geatano advises Museveni not to stand in 2016

Kabale- The chairperson of the Inter-Religious Council in Kigezi sub-region, Fr Geatano Batanyenda, has again asked President Museveni to turn down all the requests from his supporters and retire from politics come 2016.
Fr Batanyenda’s call comes after more than 200 NRM legislators on Tuesday signed a declaration endorsing Mr Museveni to contest for the presidency as the party flagbearer unopposed.
The outspoken Catholic priest said anybody telling President Museveni to contest in 2016 is an enemy of all Ugandans because such a move is aimed at fulfilling individual demands and not those of Ugandans.
Fr Batanyenda, who is also the parish priest for Kitanga Catholic Parish, said endorsing President Museveni in Kyankwanzi is a wrong forum and abuse of NRM party structures.
“I have a feeling that President Museveni endorsed himself but used some Members of Parliament to voice out his wishes,” Fr Batanyenda told the Daily Monitor on Tuesday.
Although he said Mr Museveni should let other NRM cadres take the leadership, he did not name such capable cadres.
