SV: {UAH} Why reading history is important

Ndugu Sekajja and UAH folks,
I think history is the journey forward and lessons for the corrections of the past mistakes
for the same journey forward! At the end of the day, it is a template for making a complete
made up of the new context!

I have argued that history at least of Uganda should be a compulsory subject to university

History, especially of one's country, should be a compulsory subject for every citizen, starting from Primary One up to University.

During our days (1960..........)every student from overseas going to study in the USA had to take three months,as condition, studying American history as a requirement for admission to US Universities. I don't know whether it still applies today.

Thank you for this interaction.  I had a simple message that in decision making we should try to draw on the lesson of others and adopt them to our experience.  For example the lesson from Uganda's history since independence is that we should have people who have had experience in public administration.

Eric.

Hie..but the beginning point is reading, then the analysis follows!! I think you are getting it wrong here!! How will you interpret what you havent studied yet my brother?! Above all some of these quotes were made by people who were in certains situations that were not similar to ours!! We must look at things in such a perspective that we remain focused on the ball and not stray ourselves as in so doing we waste alot of energy which we would have used in formulating and finally successfully implementing on the ground!! Our situation is similar to that of the jews who were enlsaved and killed by many conquerors until they developed a dogma called "Mossad complex" and which states," We had better die, other than be enslaved " by our enemy dictator Museveni and his puppets. So war is an end in itself...all options on table still.
Thanku Eric

 Reading
history which I encourage Ugandans to do isn't so much
 about memorizing dates
and events but most importantly drawing lessons for decision
 making purposes.
For example one statesman once advised "To go to war
 without having the
sufficient means would be like to lead the country and
 people to disaster".
