The organisation needs over Shs 9.8bn to monitor security operations.

The committee led by Col. Fred Mwesigye was meeting officials from State House who disclosed that currently, all district Internal Security Officers in the country have no money.

Officials from State House, led by Deborah Katuramu, the Permanent Secretary, said this shortage of funds has seriously affected the performance of their duties

Parliament approved over Shs 12tn for the financial year 2013/14 with the ministry of Defence getting a lion’s share of over she Shs 1tn.

The sector, according to the budget framework paper, received an additional funding provided for the 2012/13 budget.

But after sometime, officials from the ministry of Defence requested for a supplementary budget of over Shs 30bn which the Finance Committee of Parliament refused to approve.

Legislators who included Odonga Otto, Latif Sebagala and Maj Gen Oketa say that this has put the country on a security threat.

MPs are also aggrieved by the increase of RDCs’ salaries from Shs 1.5m to Shs 5m per month after discovering that they no longer perform their
duties but spend most of the time attending seminars for survival.

In a related development, the committee has also questioned the character of Tamale Mirundi, who on many occasions attacks MPs and officials from government, on his political shows.https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/images/cleardot.gif
