The Most Extreme Airport | Courchevel Airport
Courchevel Airport is a French airport, situated in a ski area in the French Alps mountains. The airport has a very short runway of only 525 meters or 1722ft with a gradient of 18.5%. There is no go-ground procedure for the this airport. De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twind otters and DHC-7 Dash 7 tuboprops served the airport in the past; however, the airfield primarily sees smaller fixed wings aircraft such as Cessnas as well as helicopters at presents. The runway has no instrument approach procedures, but it is almost impossible to make land the craft in fog and low clouds. The features of difficult approach, it is very dangerous. An up-slope runway and an adjacent are elevation is 6,588 feet that is 2,008 meters. The band changes slope in two places, and the highest value at 18.5 degrees. The History Channel program, Most Extreme Airport ranks it as the 7th most dangerous airport in the world. Some scenes of the movie "Tomorrow Never Dies" (James Bond) are also picturised here.
