Lupita Nyong’o may be a newbie to Hollywood, but she has already made a name for herself on the red carpet.
After hitting home runs throughout awards seasons, she hit a grand slam at the Oscars on Sunday.
The young actress, who turned 31 yesterday, hit the red carpet in a stunning, slightly sparkly Prada dress, which she said was inspired by champagne bubbles.
The dress, which she said she helped design, was light blue with a plunging V-neckline and a flowing pleated skirt. The shade of blue, she said, was inspired by her hometown of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
“I had a lot of blue around me growing up,” she said.
The actress, who is up for best actress for her role in “12 Years a Slave,” topped her look off with gold and diamond headband by Fred Leighton. The jewelry designer also provided her with a pair of gold and rose-cut diamond spiked crescent earrings.
