{UAH} Self determination within Uganda

Time has come to discuss self determination or decolonization within the regional context especially in  Buganda, Ankole, Tooro and Kigezi where different clans and communities were lamped together for colonial administrative convenience.  For example all the people of Rujumbura are called Bahororo but we know that we have Baganda, Bakiga, Batutsi, and Bairu.  Nevetheless in reality we have continued to be identified by our clans particularly in Buganda.

The notion of tribes and nations was supposed to evolve from clans but this has not happened. Therefore these notions exist only in our imagination.

Those who negotiated the independence constitution were only interested and succeeded in maintaining the colonial status quo except the transfer of power from British to Uganda officials.  Therefore this colonial status quo needs to be reviewed and adjusted as appropriate so that we are able to govern ourselves in an efficient and effective manner within Uganda.

Since independence, efforts to make appropriate adjustments have not succeeded because we have not yet agreed on a mutually acceptable formula.
