{UAH} OPINION OR CHARACTER ---------URGENTLY ABBEY SEMUWEMBA!

Your counsel is sought very urgently on matters of rights, opinion and character. Of recent, there has been a stampede by UAH members for the keyboard in living rooms and internet cafes, around the globe . This arose as a result of the general failure by some members in making the difference between rights, opinion and character. This came about following my mild measuring of swords with Ocen Nekyon for failing to extend an opinion in a situation where i thought necessary. This evoked responses from all corners of the globe. It saw the likes of Nokrach fall over the keyboard and Rajab Ali fumigating the inbox with such virulent attack on my character and its effect on others. Ocen Nekyon did take umbrage and to that, he suggested that people like myself who lack intellect are not fit to be on this forum. Indeed; he went as far as calling for your impeachment for allowing hoi polloi such as myself and another based in Canada to form part of this sitting. What i need from you sir, is clarifications and wise counselling on the following. 

-Whether freedom to place ones opinion on this forum is a the privilege reserved for a selected few.

-Whether freedom of expression is a paramount right on this forum

-Whether opinion forms character.

Omwami Abbey Semuwemba, this forum is a collection of Ugandans of all sorts, and as far as i can say, its generally a peaceful place and freedom of speech is a near right; its therefore a one can sojourn. It is my opinion there is a serious risk; the call by Ocen to muzzle others is a backward step to the village life of chiefs and mukungu. His call is a threat to the fundamental principal that men and women fought for the world over, and it should be resisted and he be reprimanded for his audacity to even suggest that others be made to disappear from this forum because they have opinion and they should be allowed to express them. 

To explain differences between Ocen's position and mine, I do find others opinion on certain subjects unacceptable such as, that of Mulindwa on Amin. But i will defend Mulindwa's right to express it. This is what freedom of expression is all about and it should not be for the selected few.

I close by saying that opinion does not necessarily form a character and the two should be separated. An opinion maybe disagreeable but the character very agreeable. I agree with Ocen's bubbly character as depicted by his snap but not with his village opinion that, only selected few should have right.
