{UAH} Birth Mama Winifred Auma Ocholla II International Memorial School

What was meant to be a closed and private affair between the family of Bishop Macleod Baker Ocholla II and the community of Pamolo parish, Labongo-Layamo sub-county in Kitgum District, as he sends his children and grandchildren to visit the site where their mother died 17 years ago on 23/05/1997, has turned out to be a launching event for the establishment of the above mentioned school in memory of all girls and women who affected, maimed or killed by the years of insurgencies, especially during the LRA/UPDF conflict in northern Uganda.
A total of over shs.187,000 was raised in an impromptu fundraising launched, spearheaded by the Chairman of Acholi Parliamentary Group, Hon. Reagan Okumu to open up an account to kick start the planning process to survey the land, which has been offered by the community freee of charge, draw up site plan, building plan, bills of quantity, e.t.c before main fundraising drive is carried out.
Kitgum LCV Chairman Luka Nyeko gave shs. 50,000?= while Hon. Okumu Reagan gave a cheque of shs.500,000/=, among others. This money was handed over to the Chaplain of the Diocesan Bishop, Rev. Jennifer Luwum (grand daughter of the late  Archbishop Janani Luwum) to handle it on behalf of a small technical committee to begin the process. Mr. Alfred Okwera, who was the chairman of the event of 23/05/2014, is on this committee while Hon. Okumu has volunteered to attract funds from outside the region.
