A leading Canadian Muslim advocacy group has filed a defamation lawsuit against the prime minister and his chief spokesman over linking the group to terrorism and refusing to apologize.

-- "In order to uphold its good name, the NCCM has no choice but to issue a statement of claim for defamation against Mr. [Jason] MacDonald and the prime minister," Ihsaan Gardee, executive director of the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) executive director, said in a statement cited by Toronto Sun.
Last January, PM Stephen Harper accused the NCCM of having ties with Palestine's Hamas after demanding the exclusion of an anti-Islam Rabbi from delegation accompanying the PM to the Middle East.
