Top Baganda Opposition Stalwarts Oppose Fronting Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga for Presidency, Accusing Him of 'Selling' them to SevoBy James ScottSome months ago in these lines, we poked on the hint where President Museveni aka Sevo reportedly tipped the then freshly appointed Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga on how he can make a good leader (read President), only if he could desist from diversionary and politically laced lamentations.In the seven-hour meeting at Entebbe State House, the President reportedly told the Premier that he actually was indebted to Buganda, for offering the Luweero grounds where, he staged the liberation war against the 'tyrants,' and he would love to leave the Chair for a Muganda, only that all the worth candidates were bent on 'persecuting' him and his programmes.A few days after the story, the all-powerful Katikkiro banned the Investigator from any mentions on the Kingdom's giant mouthpiece, the Central Broadcasting Services (CBS). Nevertheless, the message had reached home and indeed, those in the know of Buganda former Premiers took a note that Mayiga's approach is 100% political and never cultural like before.That the President allegedly told Mayiga to 'reform' and find ways of retrieving the anti-government, yet 'hatred-spiced' sentiments he used to air on CBS via his 'Agafa e Mengo' programme, is an undisputed story in these pages. And hence, the hitherto top FEDRO advocate at Mengo is repeatedly urging people to instead work as singing FEDERO won't bring bread on their tables.Also gone to grave is his pursuing of Masiro report-release campaign which, he now refers to as a trivial issue to keep the entire Kingdom on tenterhooks instead of working. And upon releasing the Buganda Titles yesterday, the President was all praises of Mengo for their lately positive attitude. And hence the story…The StoryUpon rising to the helm, the Katikkiro started implementing the President's wishes by 'firing' all the anti-government elements on CBS talk-shows. These included MPs Betty Nambooze aka Madam Teacher, Moses Kasibante, Mohamed Nsereko and, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, among others. The latter reportedly exchanged bitterly with the Premier and they are known sworn foes.Now that it is clear Mayiga is not looking anywhere below and beyond the Presidency, the top renowned opposition gurus in Buganda have risen up in arms to fight the current undisputed tactician. Exclusive information started flowing in last night when, we learnt of opposition cliques, sitting regularly over the issue."There is no doubt he sold us to President Museveni and his government. The man is using the until recently well-intended 'toffaali' project to market Museveni's programmes. We know he was promised the Presidency but we shall fight him," one of the raged opposition leaders inboxed us last night."But who then, will you back if you denounce your own," we asked and he answered; "He is not the first to have the ambitions, Lukwago [Lord Mayor Erias] started long ago and he has stood his ground against President Museveni's governance." (Disclaimer:Lukwago has, to our knowledge, never said he wanted the Presidency save for when he said that he had not won his opponents but President Museveni…Ed)The Premier's nemesis further hinted on the reasons why the appointing authority chose the 2nd Deputy Premier Hon Emmanuel Ssendawula and not the Katikkiro, to receive the Buganda Titles from President Museveni.
