In 2016, Mr Museveni will be 72 years old going by his official age today. By 2017 he will be 75!Article 102 (b) says ounce a Uganda attains 75 years, they are ineligible to contest for the presidency. The constitution is however silent on when someone expires in office or attains that limit while in office.
For article 102(b) says this and I quote; ' A person is not qualified for an election as president unless that person is not less than 35 years, and not more than 75 years of age. The NRM rebels say that Museveni was born in 1938 and they have the evidence. That makes Museveni already 76 years old in 2014.
According to Daily Monitor: Officials at Mbarara Hospital, where the President said he was born, declined to be drawn into Mr Museveni's birth records by this newspaper, with one saying it was a sensitive matter which could result in them losing their jobs if handled carelessly.
The mystery surrounding the President's age has gained a political currency because his opponents, without offering evidence, have alleged that he was born much earlier than stated.
"That information (on Museveni's birth date) I can assure you, you will not get it," Dr George Upenytho, the Mbarara hospital executive director, said on Wednesday.
