{UAH} POLICE ARE THIEVES
Police in bed with thieves?
I recently came to Uganda and found men using my home's compound as their camping place. They would sit to chew khat, smoke marijuana, drink ethanol, and discuss their plans – to steal at night.
I reported them to Nateete police station for criminal trespass. Police officers came on site and I was shocked that the perpetrators were known to the officer in charge. He called them by their names and they gave him money in my presence.
The next day, the same group filed an assault case against me. I was arrested by policemen from the same police station. I was charged, without the police interviewing my bystander. I was then informed by police officers that I had to give them money, for the matter to be closed.
They bragged about the many people in Luzira on false allegations. At this point, I gave them money. (Where a threat of unlawful imprisonment is exerted onto a person, this is duress, not bribery. I acted not under my will).
