2.President of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta,President of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, President of Uganda Dr Milton Obote , together with a Kenyan cabinet minister Tom Mboya in the then East African Community.where as the kenyan President died a multi billionaire the other two died poor with Dr Obote dying the poorest president ever without a coin in his pocket.According to kenneth ingham in his book;Obote,A political biography;"obote himself spent most of his time in Dar es salaam.He and his family were penniless,dependent upon the kindness of the Tanzanian govt for their accomodation&food.Friends from Kenya sent money to buy clothes for the children&with what was left over obote bought 3cows.Fortunately,Education was free.Obote met Nyerere frequently&the two discussed a wide range of issues.This regular contact&the friendship shown to the whole family,counted for almost as much as the material assistance that was so generously proferred.
