{UAH} Rigging UPC style blamed for NRM loss.
The President who likened the rigging to that used by the Uganda People’s Congress in the 1960s said the opposition had included sectarianism to make sure that the NRM did not win in by-elections.
“One scheme was sectarianism and the other was election rigging,” said the President in an article.
The President added that 1960s politics also employed various inconsistencies like underage voting that are still in use today.
“I neither voted in the elections of 1961 nor the one of 1962 because the voting age was 21 years at that time. I was 17 years, however, my late Comrade Eriya Kategaya, who was only one year older than me voted 8 times according to his own admission to me later, he was in UPC while, I was in DP,” the President wrote.
