{UAH} UMEME REPORT....PARLIAMENT EVADING RESPONSIBILITY
By seeking to task The Observer about the Umeme Report and its fate, MPs are evading their responsibility. They know the facts, they have the facts. This is not the first report. The Saleh Commission had done a similar good job, with the same recommendations. Our parliament, the incarnation of our sovereignty needs to rise above reproach. All the pedestrianism and ignorance exhibited during the probe show that our MPs owe us more. MPs hold the destiny of Uganda in their hands, so need to do more, dig deeper and stand firmer.
And Umeme is not the only case. The sale( donation??) of UCB to Stanbic, removal of presidential term limits, the Kyankwanzi resolutions, all are public knowledge. There is some strange-but-true truth of a maverick MP in the 7th parliament threatening a minister with a 'bad report' about his ministry, but ready to kill it if the minister could raise Ugx 5 million. The minister thanked his brother MP for the brotherly concern, but said he could raise only Ugx 20,000 the next day. The MP accepted that. The minister naturally was shocked and realised the MP for what he was/is. All this was by sms during a session....!!! So no surprises on this Umeme thing!!
