| The UNAA President, Mr. Brian Kwesiga will be joining the Pacific Northwest Ugandan American Association (PNUAA) Community and its President Sgt. Stephen S. Katende who also serves as the Deputy Speaker of the UNAA Council, on the PNUAA Boat Cruise on Saturday May 17th. The UNAA President described Sgt. Katende as an absolutely outstanding and dedicated community leader who has given generously of his time to the Seattle Community where he is his second term and forth year as PNUAA President. The Seattle community, being in the Pacific region is one of the larger Ugandan communities is expected to be among the bigger communities at this year's 26th Annual UNAA Convention. The visit is part of the UNAA Executive's Community Outreach Initiative (COI) where the UNAA Executive Committee aims to rebuild the Ugandan North American Communities realizing that true change can only come from the ground up as people's voices are heard. The COI has so far taken members of the UNAA Executive on seven (7) trips throughout North America. Convention Dinner Cruise Selling Out UNAA Members are encouraged to buy their Saturday Dinner Cruise as the convention is having record registration numbers with over 350 people registered with more than four (4) months to go considering the majority of convention delegates (75%) register within the last two (2) months - July and August. The San Diego numbers easily eclipse the Dallas records at this moment in time. It remains to be seen if the San Diego numbers will continue breaking the Dallas records or if it will taper off, but with a number of huge neighboring communities some analysts are projecting 1,000 registered delegates for the convention. Boston Trip Update The last trip to the Boston Community reaffirmed its historical position as the largest Ugandan community in North America. The UNAA President was able to tour various Ugandan owned businesses and churches including restaurants, salons, radio stations, the night life etc. The Sunday Town Hall attracted well over 100 Bostonians eagerly wanting to hear what plans the new UNAA Executive had for them and their communities - the UNAA President joked that he doesn't even come close to attracting such huge and enthusiastic numbers in his own home town of Dallas, Texas; so he was absolutely appreciative of the Boston community and promised to visit more often in the coming weeks and months before San Diego, CA. The Boston community pledged their support to the UNAA Executive where it was gratifying to interact with four (4) of the seven (7) UNAA BOT members present and six (6) of the seven (7) UNAA Executive members who were also in the area. Boston, once again, had managed to pull the North American Ugandan community to one place. The UNAA President, Vice President, UNAA Director of Development and the New England Council Member Mr. Kenneth Ddamba Kanyike also attended the Saturday Gwanga Mujje Mobile Van Fundraiser where UNAA pledged funds to help in those efforts. Gwanga Mujje was very appreciative and several Gwanga Mujje members showed up at the Town Hall pledging to work with the new UNAA Executive that has continuously shown leadership on areas long forgotten by UNAA. The UNAA Executive also met with the Ugandan Professionals Network (UPN) which will link up with the newly announced Professionals Interest Network (PIN) program.
