June 3rd and Namugongo was full of pilgrims again, to mark the bravery of what some call anti state rebels.
Notable were many strange things today.
· White pastured Kotido Diocese led the ceremonies at the catholic Basilica
· M7 attended with his VP and PM, a security risk one may surmise but a political point proved never the less. Jacqueline Mbabazi may be slowly being pushed into the cold BUT proof that Mbabazi is no push over. Or, may be, proof that M7 really fears or rather respects the super Minister.
· M7 , in less that 48 hours pledged to improve the toilets but hid it in Luganda phraseology…to, according to him, hide the fact from the
· AS USUAL, while it was PR pomp and harvest at the catholic shrine, it was the usual praise and mourning for the young pages at the real butchery, Nakiyanja, the protestant shrine, where it was decided, decades ago by Namirembe that this was an occasion to be with the pages in spirit.
· UTV, now called UBC highlighted the shrine of the Chief Royal Guard, KIBUUKA alias Mukajanga really meaning active, showy young man, who did his royal task. ONLY that today, the descendants want him to be made a hero too, wondering as to why his role is not acknowledged by the pilgrims who made the thing what is today. His mausoleum is dilapidated but the remains well cared for.
· GENDER INSENSITIVITY STILL DISTURBS RESEARCHERS. Among the first martyrs was a lady, Princes Clara Nalumansi, but she is not mentioned in any chronicle. May be one MIRIA will do the needful so she to and at least other 2 female victims of Omumboowa Kibuuka are finally recognized.
· The question as to why ONLY protestant pages were killed for almost one year between Jan. 31st to Nov. 1885 were singled out is no longer discussed today as it was more that 50 years ago. AFTER ALL, the Preacher of the day, at the Catholic basilica, acknowledged the matters at the other side, the Anglicans, calling them those of another CONFESSION. It is not every day this happens.
· As usual, Archbishop C. Lwanga spoke academically, even using balokole phraseology about GOD twice.
· Archbishop Odama iced the cake by reintroducing the Bishops and then leading them to liner up for a Presidential handshake, no brown envelopes from it this time around though.
THAT IS NAMUGONGO 2014 WITH HUMOUR FOR YOU
