{UAH} Namanve Artificial Forest Reserve:King Daudi Chwa set aside 2300 hectares

In 1932, during the reign of King Daudi Chwa (in picture) , the people of Buganda set aside 2300 hectares of their lands, to plant Namanve Artificial Forest Reserve. Capt. Sir Daudi Chwa fought in the World War I in the Kings Armed Rifles (K.A.R). He is most remembered for promoting sustainable development. Jjajja speared the afforestation project in Namanve to meets the needs of the then generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa is also remembered for having mobilised his subjects to plant exotic eucalyptus trees in Namanve and urged the people of Buganda, to always defend and protect Namanve Forest against deforestation and environmental degradation. The people who have destroyed Namanve are not Baganda and careless about protecting our environment.

The land in Namanve was set aside by our forefathers for purposes of environmental protection, benefit future generations and to promote sustainable development.

2.Rosebud flower farm, a privately owned company of Indian tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, maliciously destroyed the Lutembe Bay, an internationally recognised Ramsar wetland. The environmental destruction of the Lutembe wetland located in Namulanda village, Entebbe, Busiro, was carried out so a rose farm owned by a fabulously wealthy businessman could be set up there.
