{UAH} "RACISM IS A GROWN-UP DISEASE"!

'Racism is a grown-up disease' Ruby Bridges - bravery of a beautiful 6 year old: http://fortheloveofpetersburg.wordpress.com/2012/02/02/ruby-bridges/

With her cute little dress, bows in her hair, and her lunch box she seemed fearless.

On November 14, 1960 six year old Rub Bridges was on her way to William Frantz Elementary School, for her first day in a integrated school in New Orleans where she made history.

.

Born September 8, 1954 Ruby Bridges was the first African American child to attend an all white elementary school in New Orleans. Her parents were contacted by the NAACP to participate in the integration of the New Orleans integration system. To determine which African American students would be chosen first, students had to take a test; six students were chosen but Ruby was the only student who decided to switch to an integrated school. It takes a strong willed individual to endure the crowed she faced that day. There was a large crowd outside of the school throwing, yelling, and protesting the integration. Ruby kept on walking, she shed no tear, and showed her courage.

Today, Ruby Bridges is the chair of the Ruby Bridges Foundation, in which her vision is to help provide children receive equal opportunity to succeed.
