{UAH} Here is another Robert: NRM has Museveni's successor" says Kyeyune
Resident District Commission (RDC) of Wakiso, Ian Kyeyune, has said that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has many capable leaders who can replace President Yoweri Museveni when the time comes.
He however added that not all of them want to be president because they all know that it is not only in the position of president that you can serve the government and people of Uganda.
Kyeyune who is known as an NRM stalwart was speaking on a radio talk show last evening hosted by Meddie Nsereko Sebuliba. He said,
"NRM has many good and capable leaders who have been groomed by President Museveni in the period he has been in power. Most of them he has deployed them in positions where you have seen them performing wonders. That does not mean they should fight him. What will be will be.Not everyone can be what they want to be."
The issue of a successor in NRM has provoked debate in the party and has even led some government officials like General David Sejusa to flee the country. Some like Senior Presidential Advisor on Media and Public Relations John Nagenda have in the past demanded that the president names a successor in the interest of national stability. Nagenda later retracted his statements.
Ian Kyeyune's statements come at a time when there is speculation that Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi may be planning to upstage President Museveni in the 2016 General elections. Former Vice President Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya has also announced his desire to contest against his former boss. Both were leader put in their positions by President Museveni.
