The body of Joan Twizere Uwimana, 25 a former Rubaga Hospital publicist has been retrieved from the waters at Itanda falls in Butagaya, Jinja District. Twizere drowned at the falls on Sunday afternoon.The body was located at 13:00 hours today, Wednesday by local fishermen at Buwala village four kilometers from the point at Itanda falls where she drowned. Gerald Mukembo, a local fisherman from Buwala village who first cited the body says police and local fishermen have worked together to retrieved the body using small boats this afternoon.Samuel Madira, the District police commander for Jinja north division says the operation to retrieve the body of the deceased took 30 minutes due to lack of manpower and equipment.Angutoko Michael, the In-charge of Itanda falls, says the body has now been handed to relatives and friends who camped at the site, 24 miles from Jinja town for three days.Uwimana's mother, Pascazia Habalulema, says burial will be held tomorrow in Bihanga village, Bwaramba parish, Nyakinama Sub County in Kisoro district. Itanda Falls has no sign of restricted areas even as tourists get attracted to the rocks nearest to the rapids and falls.
