You are probably right that Museveni will never sack Mitundi but "never" is not Museveni's middle name. So, anything possible. What if either Hon.Beti Kamya or Hon.Beti Nambooze decide to "cross" to NRM? Like I said a couple of years ago, Nambooze is the most ideal candidate to replace Tamare Mirundi. If Museveni can't have her, then Tamare will die in that job, at least, accumulating more suits and getting scholarships for his grandchildren.

I will definitely never be one of the candidates  if it means putting on suits most of the time, but I could do with the over shs.96m per month month wages at Statehouse, wouldn't you?

KAMPALA -  Controversial and outspoken presidential press secretary, Tamale Mirundi, has said his contract as aide to President Yoweri Museveni has expired.

Commenting on the ongoing debate on his impending exit, Mirundi told journalists at the Uganda Journalist Association (UJA) headquarters in Kampala that his stay at State House would depend on Museveni's goodwill.

"My contract ended. It is now up to the president to either renew it or not," he said.

Tamale Mirundi, one of the most abrasive and confrontational aide to occupy the office, said he joined the office of the presidential press secretary a poor chap but that he has achieved many things in the over ten years of service.

Bragging about his wealth and success that has accrued from his front-bench stay in the corridors of power, Mirundi praised Museveni for having a good heart and resisting calls from several circles that he sacks him.

Mirundi also said the president defeated all his detractors by keeping the controversial man around.

"I entered State House when I had one suit. But look at what I have achieved. The President educated me and my children in some of the best universities in Scotland," he told reporters.

"Even if my contract is not renewed, I will not complain. I can assure you that I will never attack Museveni when I am outside State House."

He went on to reveal that by saving his mother from pro-Buganda youth in 2009, President Museveni made a great contribution to his life and family.
