The SIU {Special Investigative Unit} has invoked its' mandate after a man was seriously injured in a Newmarket shooting. It happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday. The SIU says a man came at officers with a handgun and officers discharged their firearms at him.  No police officers were injured. SIU is always incorporated into any incidence when a civilian or Police officer gets hurt in the process of Police during its work.

 

This is a developing incident.
