{UAH} Your mail: Taxi conductors are cheating us

I am dissatisfied with the way some taxi conductors do their work, for they rarely keep their word.

They will deceptively convince you to board their taxis and, usually halfway the journey, ask for the transport fare. Passengers usually comply, to avoid any inconveniences as they alight from the taxis. However, as people disembark at different points, and the taxi becomes almost empty, these conductors selfishly claim that they can no longer head to wherever the taxi was initially going.

They usually claim the number of passengers left does not make economic sense. They, therefore, force the remaining passengers out, even without a refund. This is unfair. Passengers are forced to pay more money for the journey than if the taxi had reached the agreed destination.

Moreover, by the time they force you out, the former soft-spoken conductors have turned into aggressive, rude and uncompromising fellows, ready to physically engage with anyone questioning their actions.

I commend those conductors who keep their word and respect us, their clients. I advise passengers not to pay until you are within a few hundred metres of your destination. Should the taxi man decide to terminate the journey halfway, you can justifiably pay him half the fare. Of course it helps if you have some 'changed' money.
