{UAH} The causes of World War I were very deep-seated
Charles W. Eliot, former president of Harvard University, wrote an article about the causes of the First World War. He wrote "all these so-called causes are merely superficial events [including assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne], which might more properly be the occasions than the causes of the war. To my mind, the causes of the war are very deep-seated, and have to be traced back through long years, and indeed, through generations of men. They are states of mind rather than events. They have their sources in racial feelings and to some extent religious differences, in the ambitions of princes, in long-cherished aspirations and ambitions of peoples…"(The Atlantic August 2014).
I am researching and writing these stories about World War I to show Ugandans that wars have many deep-seated causes carried out or incited by people who are aware of these deep-seated causes. We should not just pick up guns and start killing our fellow Ugandans because someone wants to fulfill his deep-seated goal of becoming the next president. Let us understand clearly who are driving these efforts for war. Uganda has become a melting pot with many people that have deep-seated motives.
We were told Amin had come to power to restore security and peace. We were told Museveni had come to power to restore democracy and the rule of law. What are we being told this time?
Sejusa wants to replace Museveni and become president. Kafero has said he is planning a war to become the next president. The FADDU people deserted Uganda to the Rescue (UTR) of Kafero because they disagreed about who should become president. Kafero insisted he is the one. Now they are working with Sejusa and Otunnu. Soon they will part company because they are going to disagree about who should become the next president.
The question to ask is this: Should the people of Uganda die, get disfigured, live in camps or run into exile because someone wants to topple NRM government by force of arms and become president? Or should we allow people with deep-seated motives of dominating others use Ugandans to fulfill their deep-seated objectives? Ugandans wake up. We have been used long enough. See who are behind all these plans for regime change. Bless you all.
