This was written in March. Many feared to associate with it and today,
guess what! It happened in Kampala! Court has quashed the Anti-Gay
Law!
Here: i only have the Luganda news flash so far.

Subject: ODOI, LATIGO, MWENDA, MUGISHA AND KO. ADVOKATES WILL WIN THE
CASE AT CONST. COURT. WHAT NEXT UGANDA A.H.L?
To: ugandans-at-heart <ugandans-at-heart@googlegroups.com>
The petitioners -- MP Fox Odoi, Joe Oloka Onyango, Andrew Mwenda,
Ogenga Latigo, Paul Semugooma, Jacqueline Kasha, Julian Onziema, Frank
Mugisha and two civil society organisations -- are challenging sections
1, 2 and 4 of the recently passed anti-gay law, which criminalise
homosexual activity, between consenting adults in private.
They argue these sections are in contravention of the right to privacy
and equality before the law without discrimination, guaranteed under
the Ugandan constitution. They also claim the that bill was passed
without quorum in parliament, despite Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi
informing the speaker of this -- also an unconstitutional act.
(THIS EXTRACT IS FROM Xindex WHOSE SLOGAN IS "the voice of free expression")
The petitioners will win this case and the esteemed court will call
this law to order as per constitutional stipulations. Nothing to do
with the nature of the petitioners. What follows for Uganda, then? Go
with legal sense or cultural sensibility?
On the sidelines, the group is proving most defensive. Latigo has
ignored protests in his home area, Odoi says he doesn't mind losing
his constituency, Mwenda says "one need not be a woman to fight for
women's rights, a child to fight for children's rights" to counter
uninformed allegations that he is gay. This matter is not simple at
all but court will find it easy to issue this ruling.
The "outside" community is aware of this. They are waiting to see if
the larger Ugandan constituency has plan B or waiting to switch sides.
Prepare!
