{UAH} LEAVE MY WOMAN ALONE: Your mail: What 'an imperfect gift' from Kadaga!
When Parliament passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, it was averred that this was a Christmas 'gift' from Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
It was received with a lot of amusement and jubilation by many Ugandans. The Constitutional court has recently nullified the law on grounds that there was no quorum when the bill was passed. This, in my opinion, should have been foreseen by the legal minds within Parliament.
The fact that the bill was not taken seriously from the onset, thus being referred to as a 'gift', it was bound to fail. This is in conformity with what Dick Cavett once said: "Sloppy language leads to sloppy thought and a sloppy thought to a sloppy legislation."
The Executive should not be accused of double standards because the legislature failed to perfect their 'gift' when they had the chance to. I believe this will serve as a wake-up call to the legislature to attach value to whatever they do.
