{UAH} Milton Friedman did not get what he wanted
The late Professor Milton Friedman worked hard to defeat the Keynesian economics of state intervention in the national economy. Keynesian economics survived. The current public-private partnership in economic development is a recognition that the two sectors need to work together strategically in accordance with their endowments.
"In 2004, two years before his death, Friedman took a depressing view of his achievement: 'After World War II, opinion was socialist while practice was free market; currently, opinion is free market while practice is heavily socialist. … We have succeeded in stalling the progress of socialism, but we have not succeeded in reversing its course'. … The state has accumulated ever more responsibilities and imposed ever more hidden costs on everybody else"(Micklethwait & Woodridge 2014).
