3.Uganda Argus, Tuesday January 4th 1966:Girls join the sorters.
Five girls have been engaged as postal officers in Uganda - the first time that girls have taken up this work in this country.They are working initially at Kampala head post office, learning work in the sorting office and on the public counter. Eventually, it is anticipated that they will work on the counter, dealing with the public. A post office spokes in Kampala said: "this is our first attempt to introduce girls to such posts. But there is no reason why they should not do just as well as men. If we are successfull in the initial experiment, we will probably engage more girls.
