{UAH} WERE THEY ALSO "AIRLINES"? More Uganda airlines lose flying licenses

More Uganda airlines lose flying licenses

KAMPALA, Uganda - More airlines in Uganda, Asante Aviation Ltd and Ndenge Juu, have had their Air Operators Certificates (AOCs) withdrawn.

Following the withdraw of AOCs for three airlines Air Uganda, Transafrik Ltd and Uganda Air Cargo Ltd by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, the two airlines were also found to be operating regional charter flights to the Democratic Republic of Congo,  South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.

They have been occasionally mounting flight charters to South Africa, Zambia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Central African Republic and West Africa.

This was the major cause of the removal of the certificates pending a new recertification process for all Ugandan registered airlines operating international flights currently being undertaken by CAA.

A source in the aviation sector told East African Business Week that the two airlines Asante Aviation Ltd and Ndenge Ju were advised to operate only as domestic charter airlines.

"We advised them to register for domestic business but ounce in a while they operated to DRC and South Sudan," said a source. "Now, they have to undergo the new certification process," added the source who preferred anonymity.

Asante Aviation is a Ugandan registered company approved and Licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority to operate charter flight services for both passenger and cargo, domestic and regional. They started their operations in 2006.

Asante Aviation, also according to a recent advert is under receivership in the matter of the insolvency act of 2011 and in the matter of insolvency regulations of 2013 of M/S Asante Aviation limited.

"Muhangi Joel was appointed receiver of M/S Asante Aviation ltd for purposes of taking possession and disposal of two aircrafts registered as 5X-AMC and 5X-SUS," read the advert.

Ndege Aviation is located in Kajjansi Airfield between Kampala and Entebbe and is a full service provider of aviation services based in Uganda and serving the whole of East Africa.

Until the withdrawing of its AOC, it was offering greater convenience, comfort and personal service.
