WBK, Yes we made it but the margin was far below anticipated prognosis.
We are in a delicate situation. It is like we did not really win more votes BUT,
THAT THE CURRENT CONSERVATIVE-LIBERAL ALLIANCE QUAKED
CAPITALLY.
Sadly, THEY LOST THEIR VOTERS TO THE RACIST "SVERIGEDEMOCRATS"!!
Still, we have to celebrate our win- so far so good!
It was a shock lost for the alliance. Both the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister
and a couple other tops (architects and spine of the alliance) have pronounced resignation
not only from governance but from party politics as well.
As for the second question: NJAA..,Between 1976-1982, 1991-1994,
Socialdemokraterna were in opposition.
Actually, the Socialdemocrats have since 1960s
not really lead any majority government but their strength had been the ability
to dialogue across part barriers and with all interest groups to woo support for
their policy and budget.
Now we are at the same old shit negotiation and dialoge situation.
It used to be easier but now the political landscape has changed.
Socialdemokraterna, Mijöpartiet and Vänsterpartiet did not get enough mandates
so they have to reach out for dialogue with at least the liberal middle parties.
So far, they have turned a deaf-ear to the invitation. It is a dilema..., a nightmare!
But Stefan Löven is a former metal Union leader (experienced negotiator), a welder
who worked his way up. So he might do the magic when the shock on the loosing
alliance calms. Otherwise, there could be risk for a new election.
We are not there , yet!!
The best lesson to draw from the results is that THE SWEDISH SOCIETY IS A VERY
SOLID VALUE BASED SOCIETY. There are fundamental values that you just can
not temper with ..., just like that. Beyond that it does not matter if you
talk economy, economy, tax-reduction.., tax-reduction, individual freedom to choose..., blah, blah!!!
Such society values include " MEDBESTÄMANDERÄTT (voice / right to be consulted.
This includes at schools or working places),
RIGHT TO EQUAL WELFARE (That includes schools, healthcare among others).
These, including ALLEMANSRÄTT (Legal right of access) are so deep rooted.
When you try to water up or scrape these values, you'll be shown the exit no matter
how much tax you wish to cut!!
People are willing to pay tax to maintain those society values.
The Alliance learnt the hard way.

Congratulations. How long were SD in opposition? They had ruled Sweden for years and possibly took voters then for granted. So what lessons did the SD learn while in opposition that helped them to make a successful bid this time?
Was immigration such a big election issue in Sweden? If so why?
In terms of ordinary voters/citizens what does the victory of the SD mean for them?
