It was a rather an unusual scene at the home of the former prime minister Amama Mbabazi's home along Kar drive in Lower Kololo as the army led by the chief of staff Land forces Brig. Leopold Kyanda removed the former's guards.

UPDF raided Mbabazi's home at around 4:00pm and ordered all his guards to surrender their belongings including guns and other logistics which were loaded on a military police truck.

No stone was left unturned as even the sacks of posho, files, national emblem andmattresses were all taken .

However, there was a scuffle as the former premier's wife Jacqueline Mbabazi sent away journalists from his home stressing it was a private premise.

At around 7:05pm, Mbabazi arrived at his home in his newly acquired black Toyota land cruiser brand car but this time round it was his driver to open for him unlike the usual protocol where guards used to do so.

In an interview with ChimpReports, Brig. Kyanda explained that it was a normal procedure of a change of guards from UPDF to police .

"I got instructions from the CDF that we had to take back our soldiers to the barracks and this has been done successfully," Kyanda noted.

When asked whether the premier was aware of the development, Kyanda explained that Mbabazi had been well informed of what was happening and rubbished claims by Mrs Mbabazi that the exercise was done in an improper manner.

"I have nothing to say about the manner in which the exercise was done but it's Jacqueline to clarify on that."

UPDF spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda told this website that, "there is no cause for alarm," adding, "we are simply withdrawing military guards and replacing them with police."

He said "at his (Mbabazi) level, it's police which should be in charge of his security."

Mbabazi was recently sacked and replaced by Health Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.

We recently reported that after being ousted as Prime Minister, Mbabazi was put under a 24-hour security surveillance.

This followed reports that he intended to escape from the country.

The raid on the NRA historical's home confirms the huge fallout with his superior President Museveni.

But Ankunda says the army does not have any intentions to facilitate the arrest or detention of Mbabazi.

Below are photos captured by our Chimp Corp from the scene;
