Police storm Kampala Serena Hotel over activism posters.
Other posters were also dropped along Lumumba Avenue and according to an eye witness, KCCA cleaners started removing them as early as 5.00 am this morning
Police officers from the Central Police Station (CPS) have this morning stormed Kampala Serena Hotel to remove posters which had been put along the fence of the hotel.
The posters bearing slogans like "Ugandans get ready change is coming soon," were mainly littered around the hotel's gate opposite the Parliament building and the twin towers which host the Office of the Prime minister. Other posters called upon the public to stock basic necessities like paraffin, salt and food in the event of the said coming change.
Aaron Baguma the officer in charge of Central Police Station Kampala who led the team of officers who removed the posters said that Police was helping Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) to clean up the area of the litter. "We are on routine clean up of the city because Police works with KCCA," Mr Baguma said before leaving the scene.
The area where the posters where thrown is heavily guarded and it is not clear how the posters where put without the knowledge of the security officers and the intention of the person who put them.
Groups linked to the former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi had promised to take action this week following his sacking as premier and replacement with former Health Minister Ruhakana Rugunda.
Other posters were also dropped along Lumumba Avenue and according to an eye witness, KCCA cleaners started removing them as early as 5.00 am this morning.
