The shocking development follows Uganda Cranes' poor performance on Wednesday against Guinea in an Afcon group E qualifier that was played in Casablanca.
Like in any normal football fixture, goals are scored from blunders and Mwesigwa was at fault in the run to the two goals that Uganda conceded in Morocco.
"Mwesigwa's house was attacked by unknown fans and property damaged," Sulait Mugerwa, a neighbor confirmed. The national team skipper, who plays professional football in Kazakhstan, had one of the worst personal displays in his over 10 year tenure ever featured for Uganda Cranes.
Mwesigwa, the oldest serving squad member on the team sounded depressed could neither confirm nor deny the attack when approached. Uganda bowed out of Afcon qualifiers after the 2-0 defeat to Guinea in Morocco. Several personalities have since openly come out to categorically condemn the attack.
"For all the service he has offered to the Uganda Cranes, this is not the best means to pay him back and say thank you. I request Police does an inquiry to bring the criminals to book," Emmanuel Ndugga toldKawowo Sports
