4,In 1452, Sultan Mehmed II built the Rumelihisarı fortress north of Constantinople, to aid in the Ottoman conquest of the city the next year.
One important fact: the sultan asked for help in building it, and english architects designet it. In other words, a fortress build by the enemy, which in turn knew all the weaknesses in the architecture as they themselves had designed it. Not the smartest move in history, if you Ask me. But, I might be wrong on the other hand.
