{UAH} Faulty Ways Science is Taught
It is a very interesting article in so many different ways. I have taught research classes and introduced a Bhaskarian Research Methodology; I had developed since the 80's out of his works.
IR grasp of the world both from its sociological make up, methodological one and not least geo-spatial (geographical) position makes for great reading. As I read Jonathan Joseph's article I can't fail to see the fantasies, sociologists of all types, who have not read Bhaskar's works are involved into – a sort of constructivism/positivists/empiricism that make sociologists believe groups of people and societies look as if the knowledge they prefer on them and allege about them is for real!
Indeed, with Bhaskarian sciences at a deeper level, the application of legal procedure will one day change because of the causation logical inadequacies.
One interesting phenomenon in the world, is that even skewed sciences work, in some mysterious ways but to a huge monetary and social cost. How many children should families have and how do you solve demographics deficits and surpluses? No political scientist has been able to explain this to me and how it so happens! This has something to do with liberties and the concept of a free flourish individual and of course "living well".
What is even more interesting, is sciences' limited ability to understand contemporary sociological issues (petty irritations): homelessness, family break-ups, housing, destitution, deviance, and recently urban/industrial economics and all its associated fields. It is as if science and the academic collegiate are involved in a grand scientific illusion, where the knowledge they hold is but mere fallacies of no practical import.
One surprising bit with Bhaskar's Science, is his so called "spiritual turn" which I personally instead interpret as understanding a different layer of social being, not so thoroughly explored scientifically. How do we then exhaustively explain wo/man's social relations and the bonds that bring person to person relation in an emerging structure on a ultra and then meta scale – ah that word Metareality – Was Bhaskar involved in unravelling the social chemistry of human affairs?
Bhaskar is indeed very interesting and he will continue to be an inspiration as we explore the secrets of his deep understanding of the world.
I hope I will get time and write this new sociology and my own experiences examining Bhaskars sociology from a students learning experience. Comparison of contemporary or is it mainstream sociology to Bhaskarian is a world apart.
I will hasten to add, its application can make for better scholars and academicians who do not just "regurgitate "things which do not exist at all.
Good morning Roy it is past 10.30 o'clock here and have a nice day or evening – hope you receive this by fax.
