MP COMMITTED TO CIVIL PRISON OVER CHILD NEGLECT

The Member of Parliament for Vura County, Dr. Sam Okuonzi has this morning been committed to Luzira civil prison over child neglect.

Dr. Okuonzi was charged with child neglect before the Nakawa Grade two Magistrate, Rose Jolly Onyan.

Court has committed Dr. Okuonzi for six months imprisonment unless he pays 4.6 million shillings for the upkeep of his three year Child.

According to the information before court, Dr. Okuonzi's troubles stem from his failure to provide school fees for the child he fathered with Rehema Namukwaya.

Namukwaya alsos accuses Dr. Okuonzi of failing to look after her despite being pregnant.

Court has ordered Dr. Okuonzi to deposit 10 million shillings as security before being released.
