{UAH} Seya: I don’t fancy women from single schools

FN
By the way, I have always wanted to ask you, in which school did you do your secondary education? Here what Seya says, any thoughts?
Al Haji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala, former Senior Special Presidential Adviser in charge of General Duties speaks to Esther Oluka on love, family and politics.
How do you feel when people mock you because of your English blunders?
(Smiles) I am not an English man. Chinese speak Chinese and not English. The same applies to Japanese. You will find them speaking Japanese all the time.
I am never offended or bothered by such people. Never! I simply ignore them. The funny is that I am actually doing better than those particular people who are constantly fond of making fun of me. These are people who cannot even afford lunch and they are there laughing at me.
Do you ever respond to such people?
I never. If I did that, I would be encouraging them to instead make more fun of me. So, I ignore them. They can say whatever they want. It is a free world.

You have previously been linked to local artiste, Desire Luzinda. How do you two relate?
Desire Luzinda is not my lover. She is just my good friend. We have never dated. It is something that she constantly tells people, but somehow, they doubt her.
Did you advise her after the nude photos leaked?
Yes, I did. I told her to remain calm and cool. The man who leaked the pictures should not have done that. Those pictures were private.
The consolation messages directed to Luzinda that were going round on social media. Were they from you?
No, that was not me. Those were other people claiming to be me. I never sent Desire any consolation message on social media.
The only social media comments I post are political related and that is only on Facebook.
How did your friendship start by the way?
I met Desire through a mutual friend. It was at a time she was starting her musical career.
She wanted to meet certain people but did not have their contacts at the time. I helped her reach out to them since I had the connections. This was about seven years ago.
You won the custody battle of your love child with renowned designer, Sylvia Owori, at the beginning of this year.Has this affected the way you two communicate?
Not all. We are still on good talking terms. She comes to my home to see our son whenever she likes.
What happened to the relationship?
We developed issues just like any other couple and the relationship failed.
Let's talk family now. How many children do you have?
I will not tell you the number of children I have. It is unacceptable in the African culture to mention how many children and wives one has.
Wives! Does that mean you have more than one?
I will still not tell you how many I have. That is a private matter. The only thing I can probably tell you is that my religion, Islam, permits me to have up to four wives.
What do you have to say to people who continuously doubt your education level?
I went to school. I went to Kibuli Demonstration School. However, I did not go through S.4 and S.6 because my father at the time could not afford to educate me. Instead of sitting home idle, he advised me to work with him at Nakasero market.
We were dealing in various foodstuffs. Later on, I applied and was taken up for a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Economics at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
If you never went through High School, how come you were enrolled for a degree course then?
(Laughs) Admission to the University in the United Kingdom is done differently from the way it is here in Uganda. There, you are assessed individually before taking you up for a particular programme.
Your first girlfriend, tell us something about her.
I think I was about 19 years at the time. She was still in school and very beautiful. She was slighter younger than me. Our relationship ended after one year because of disagreements.
After breaking up with her, I went on to date other girls. One of those girls was from a single school. She was so fixated on the relationship only being about us. I hated this. I was the kind of person who wanted to relate with other girls but then she would not let me. Our relationship never lasted as well.
Did you pick up any lesson from this particular relationship?
Yes, I did. Ever since I broke up with that girl, I never dated girls from single schools again. When a girl told me she was from a single school such as Gayaza, Nabbingo or Namagunga, I would never bother even if I liked her.
Girls from single schools believe that a man should only have one wife, which is something I'm not comfortable with. If I'm in a relationship, for instance, and it is not working out, I would prefer to get someone else other than pretending that everything is okay.
What do you think made girls easily fall for you back then?
I had money which I got from doing business with my father. I was also very hard working.
What are your thoughts on Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago?
Mr Lukwago is just using his title for fighting different political battles instead of working.
He has failed to differentiate his roles from those of the Executive Director of Kampala. It is even late for him to pass any policies right now since it is one year to another election.
2016, any political ambitious?
I intend to stand as the Kampala Lord Mayor.
Is that even constitutionally allowed, to rerun for Mayor?
What I know is that they do not limit any person from standing for the position of Lord Mayor, including me who has stood as Mayor before.
