{UAH} Sony cancels release of film about assassinating N. Korean leader
Folks;
The phrase "in bad taste" doesn't even begin to describe this film.
However loathsome the North Korean leader may be, writing about or advocating his assassination is an affront to civility everywhere. Sony is cancelling the release of this despicable movie, not because it offends decent people, but because movie theaters have announced they will boycott it, after receiving threats of violence.
So, rather than eat humble pie and admit that they had erred in making the movie in the first place, Sony is buying time for now, hoping that the anger their film has generated, will ebb with time.
It's instructive to note here that while the plot of the film is about two journalists assigned by the CIA to execute the assassination, the CIA did not object to the use of their name in the film!
And Americans keep wondering why they are hated out there!

.
ELES (Reuters) - Sony Pictures said on Wednesday it canceled the Dec. 25 theatrical release of its North Korea comedy "The Interview," after major U.S. theater chains pulled out of showing the film following threats from hackers.
"In light of the decision by the majority of our exhibitors not to show the film 'The Interview', we have decided not to move forward with the planned December 25 theatrical release," Sony said in a statement.The studio said it was "deeply saddened at this brazen effort to suppress the distribution of a movie, and in the process do damage to our company," and that it stood by the film makers of "The Interview," a comedy about two journalists recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
