Last weekend, President Gen. Y. K Museveni featured on Capital Gang
programme. Now, for the record, when you give Museveni a microphone,
you have given him all the ammunition he ever needed. That;s what
happened again.
One of the panelists included Kyaddondo East MP, Ssemujju Ibrahim
Nganda, who has made a career bashing Museveni- but to no effect on
the whole. So, on Saturday, he got a chance of a lifetime to get close
to "his idol" and even shook his right hand.
Before the shake-up, he asked the President something to do with
alleged falling out with Mbabazi.
Museveni retorted: "I have known Mbabazi for longer than honourable
Ssemujju has been alive. I know him better". That quote isn't exact
but says it.
Then recently when Parliament was about to approve the appointment of
Dr. Rugunda as new premier, Mbabazi was on the floor paying tribute to
him. He traced how they started working together in the 1970s. Hon.
Anite (of the sole candidature motion) at one point heckled him. The
ex-premier quipped: "Of course by then honourable Anite was still in
the making!"
A stout, salacious and loaded remark.
There are other instances where the two heavy men speak similar
language but the small composition here is extremely figurative with a
lot of meaning. Museveni and Mbabazi are sending a message to
self-appointed "middlemen and under-women" to watch out lest they will
end lost in the deep sea of advanced politics which is a reserve of
visionaries and philosophers.
The likes of Adamses, Anitays, Kasleeve, Omodel, are endangered
species. One wonders what an FDC MP who should be vying for the
party's top post has to do with the murk in NRM! Really the youths of
today you are about to drown!
