{UAH} "Yoweri K. Museveni is here to stay".

Fellow UAH,

In about March, 1986 I was informed by a friend of mine who hails from the West Nile, Uganda that, " Museveni is here to stay". The NRM were about two months in power, but my dear friend seemed to know something I obviously did not know.

Since I received that information, I have tried to study the events in our country and at times sharing my thoughts here with fellow Ugandans At Heart. The problem I faced was that some of the readers received my thoughts badly and chose to insult me. I did not mind because I knew that time would reveal the truth in my thoughts that I had shared.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is probably understood differently by the people of Uganda, including myself. Although the NRM identifies as a 'political party' for the convenience of participation in the National Elections against other political parties, I believe it is bigger than that. I believe that it is meant to be a Movement of the people to which we all Ugandans should belong for a common good of our country.

Integration of the Ugandan people and building a spirit of 'Patriotism' seemed attractive enough for all who wish well our country. But the 'Democracy' which might have influanced many to rise against former governments seemed at a risk and the stronger the NRM became, the more dictatorial it seemed to be, as there was no other party through which to channel divergent views. The foundation of the Movement began to shake as the officials who were the 'Back bone' of the NRM chose to establish themselves, hence their views from the outside. The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) was born and several others followed.

The Uganda Peoples' Congress and the Democratic Party seemed unaffected by the split of the NRM and went on to organise their parties which also gained many more new members.

By communicating with many people to whom I maintained their respect and the will to listen and learn, I realised that the NRM is still the 'Movement of the people of Uganda' to which every Ugandan either physically, or psychologically belongs. It is like a 'Home' from which many may go, but eventually return.

With the above thoughts of mine I am therefore not surprised to know that General David Sejjusa, formerly known as "Tinyefuuza" has returned home to Uganda.
